Command 480EC Herbicide
Serve-Ag is the Australian distributor for the FMC herbicide Command 480EC.
Command 480EC Herbicide, containing 480 g/L of Clomazone, is a residual herbicide registered in Australia for cucurbits, green beans, navy beans, potatoes and tobacco, as well as the unique use as an early post emergence herbicide in poppies.
A combination of high water solubility, a high degree of adsorption to soil particles, and entry into weeds through both shoots and roots are the bases of some of the unique features of Command 480EC herbicide.
While the active ingredient in Command 480EC is highly soluble in water, its mobility in soil is very low due to the strength of its adsorption to clay and organic matter in the soil. Command 480EC has moderate movement in sandy soils with low organic matter and clay content and minimal movement in loam/clay soils with higher clay and organic matter content. This means that the active ingredient in Command 480EC - even with its high water solubility which provides superior early season control - does not leach appreciably in the soil. The active ingredient remains in the root zone of weeds to provide long-lasting control even through periods of high rainfall.
Command 480EC is registered in Australia for pre-emergence control of economically important weeds such as, Apple of Peru (Nicandra physalodes), Potato Weed (Galinsoga parviflora), Blackberry Nightshade (Solanum nigrum), Fat Hen (Chenopodium album) and Amaranthus (Amaranthus powellii)(suppression only). In addition, troublesome weeds occurring in Poppies will be controlled including Amaranthus, Fat Hen, Hogweed (Polygonum aviculare), Wild Radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) and Stagger Weed (Stachys arvensis).
