Preparing Farmers in the Coal River Valley for Climate Change

This is a two year project run by the Coal River Products Association and funded by the Australian Government’s FarmReady Industry Grants Program.  The project will provide an integrated approach in identifying and adapting to climate change issues for the Coal River Valley region.  The project is delivered in three stages;

  • Stage One: Investigation into an understanding of climate change patterns relevant to the Coal River Valley.
  • Stage Two: Grower interviews and farm water/soil assessments and focus groups to identify climate change risks to the region and future training needs.
  • Stage Three: Delivering a training program which focuses on the training needs identified in the farm level audits and focus groups.

The project will assist growers to become more resilient and innovative farmers, armed with a range of strategies to cope with future climate change challenges.
