Productive Options for Saline Land on Tasmania's East Coast
This is a project funded by NRM South, working with landholders within the Little Swanport and Swan Apsley catchments on Tasmania’s east coast. The main objective of this short term project is to increase landholder knowledge of salinity and their capacity to identify appropriate management strategies, whilst building on previous trial work established and monitored near Triabunna.
Major activities to be conducted include:
- An introductory field day showcasing previous on-ground work, monitoring activities and results;
- A comprehensive workshop detailing all aspects of salinity processes, identification, monitoring and assessment techniques and management options;
- Site assessments and development of detailed management plans for four interested participants of the project.
This project links with existing work being conducted by Serve-Ag on behalf of the CRC for Future Farm Industries, part of the Saltland Knowledge Exchange program.
